Knox Psychology

Knox Psychology and counselling is provided to individuals of all ages dealing with a range of issues, including anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, parenting, low self-esteem and self-confidence, body image and identity and many more. We also offer support to those who feel lost or confused, whether it pertains to their career, lifestyle, or other aspects of life.

When working with children and adolescents, the attachment relationships are viewed as crucial to a child’s wellbeing. Kathryn, our Wantirna psychologist, holds this at the heart of therapy with children  and translates this into parents/guardians/carers being actively involved throughout their child’s time in therapy. Parents/guardians/carers are also supported during this process.

What this could look like will be explored together in the initial stages. Kathryn’s interactions and understanding of her client’s  situations are strongly influenced by the principles of attachment theories and interpersonal neurobiology.

The counselling approaches used include:

  • psychotherapy
  • eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR) for all ages
  • cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT)
  • various play therapies while also drawing on skills from solution focused therapy, narrative therapy, and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT)

These various approaches means each client can receive a service that best meets their needs.
