Today, I’m going to share with you my top two exercises to help overcome some of your neck pain. A lot of clients ask from our office, how do we get neck pain? Where does it come from? How can we get rid of it?
Because it is quite common in our lifestyles and from the dreaded tech stack of looking down at a phone too much to the way we’re forced to work, at the sleep.
Even the injuries we have in car accidents, falls, things like that can really have an issue through here.
You see, as the neck itself we’ve got a lot of joints coming in through here, got a lot of nursery, so it can be quite delicate at times and any sort of stress can often cause a lot of discomfort through there.
Again, things like headaches and neck pain. Sometimes it can even cause that pain into our hands because these nerves come all the way down here.
My top exercises to help overcome some of this neck pain is stress. It’s first trying to identify what’s causing the stress, if you’re not sitting right make sure you’re sitting properly. It could be sleeping posture, so know making sure you’ve got a really good pillow.
If you do want to know more about that, check our last video. Also making sure that you’ve got good posture. A lot of the time, when we are slashed and ran it through the shoulders that comes forward and they can really put a lot more weight and a lot more stress at this joint. So, making sure we’ve got good posture is helpful.
My first exercise that I was recommended is called a Chin Talk Exercise. This is just like you’re drawing your head back so you can hold this position for about 10 seconds and relax. Do it again, hold for 10 seconds, relax.
Do that about 10 times, have a minutes break and then another set of that, and then do once or twice a day. It shouldn’t hurt. So, if it’s hurting, it might be coming back too much.
Now the next one I recommend is a stretch. And this is where you go in your nose to your opposite arm here to try and stretch your head. So it’s just less, nice and gentle. You don’t want to bring the shoulder up. You want to keep it nice and level and just gently stretching through there. Now you hold this position for about 30 seconds. Relax, go to the other side, 30 seconds, relax and then go to the other side. You do that twice.
I hope those help. If you’re still experiencing neck pain after these or your pain’s not going away it might be a sign that you’ve got to get checked by a chiropractor.
If you want some more exercises or you want to get it checked and we’ll be more than happy to help.
Have a lovely day.
